Gold, Silver and Bronze trees for the contest winners

Grove Councilor Bonesai proposed a project to celebrate the Tokyo 2020 Games and we thought it was a great idea. Simultaneously, we had already been mulling over an art contest. We combined them to create an engaging community challenge with a great prize! Best of luck to you all.

To commemorate this past year and all the wonderful things this summer in Tokyo, I (Bonesai) am proud to announce that in close collaboration with ZENFT I created a limited collection of 3D Bonsai NFTs, which will be released on August 8th, 2021.
There are three types of medal bonsai: gold, silver, and bronze, with a total supply of 12 in the series. Each one is hand made in collaboration between Eternal Caretaker and I using the style of the original 8888 Bonsai trees, with a metallic color theme built using Blender, an open source 3D graphics software.
This project was inspired by Eternal Caretaker’s Blender tutorial in the ZENFT Discord, which taught ZENFT community members how to make and edit their 3D model bonsai trees on Blender. After the Discord tutorial, I dove into the blender program for hours and started making some awesome gold and silver trees. The people in the community loved it, and I wanted to give back, so I applied for a ZENFT project grant to commemorate Tokyo bringing the world together this year. After weeks of designing with the team, here we are!
Japan’s history of bonsai making has truly pushed the art to amazing levels. We want to acknowledge Japan’s contribution to the art of bonsai and the athletes of different nations competing in Tokyo despite all the difficult times we have gone through this past year. Like a bonsai, we will grow through this! This is an event that brings the world together, and we want to commemorate that on the Ethereum blockchain in this special edition of Bonsai by ZENFT, forever.
